About Kirsty
At the age of 4, Kirsty decided that horses were going to be the mainstay of her life. The ultimate horse mad child, she helped at several good riding schools learning the skills of horse care and how to handle and ride a large number of ponies and horses soon realising how each one had their own take on life.
This proved invaluable experience as in her working life as a coach, variety is reality and each horse and rider combination presents their own story. Kirsty combines her love of equines, experience and teaching skills to help fulfill riders’ passion and skills for these wonderful animals. Formally trained at the Mark Phillips Equestrian Centre at Gleneagles, Kirsty holds her BHS II (level 5 coaching). She was mentored by William Micklem (FBHS) and trained by a variety of The world’s top trainers such as Mark Phillips, Carl Hester and latterly Ian Stark Introduced into the world of eventing, it was a dream to compete at 4* level with Burghley and Badminton a goal. After an initial sortie to Intermediate level on a powerful chestnut called Murphy (Ashdown Venture) she found Simon (Mendip Snowgoose), a tall grey Irish Sports Horse by Spring Diamond as a raw 5 yr old with whom she formed that special relationship to climb the eventing ladder and realise that dream.Kirsty has evented and competed many horses both self owned and for clients for over 25 years during which time she has acquired a vast experience In April 2017, Kirsty set up a training and livery yard at Woodlands Farm, Aberuthven – 5 minutes from Gleneagles Station. A new build yard with a 60x30m school perfectly located in Central Scotland Training is offered at all levels and disciplines for all ages.
Kirsty continues to compete and although eventing is her first sport, pure dressage and showjumping will feature strongly in her programme. By way of diversification and to be a true all rounder in equestrianism she also competes her two ride/drive ponies who are available for those wishing to experience carriage driving. She has also taken part in Western pleasure and trail at National Championship level.
